An Unforgettable Experience: Swimming with Whale Sharks on the Neighboring Island of Sumbawa, East of Lombok
Day 1: Lombok – Labu Jambu, Sumbawa
Departure from your hotel in Senggigi or Kuta at around 8 AM after breakfast. The journey takes us east to Labuhan Lombok Harbor, where we will take a 2-hour ferry ride to West Sumbawa. Upon arrival at Pototano Harbor in Sumbawa, we will continue traveling for approximately 4 to 5 hours through Sumbawa Besar to reach Labuhan Jambu. Overnight accommodation in a simple hotel is included.
Day 2: Sumbawa Besar – Whale Shark Watching – Lombok
An early wake-up is required. Departure at 3 AM to the harbor, where we will board a traditional fishing boat to reach an offshore observation platform, located about 2 hours from the mainland. From the platform, you can observe the majestic whale sharks, while our local guide feeds them with small fish.
If whale sharks are present, you will have the chance to jump into the water with your snorkeling gear and swim alongside these gentle giants, as they are completely harmless.
At 8 AM, we will return to the mainland and head back to the hotel for breakfast. The journey back to Lombok to your pre-booked hotel will start at 11 AM, marking the end of this unforgettable whale shark experience on Sumbawa.
